Who Is SCAATCN?
(SC African-American Tobacco Control Network)
In 1998, a statewide tobacco control network was created by individuals who were committed to reducing African-American tobacco use and providing information to communities across the state to neutralize the effects of the tobacco companies targeting communities of color. A major goal of SCAATCN's is to provide African American communities with a variety of tools for tobacco control. Through our actions, it is hoped that the needless premature loss of lives from smoking could disappear as a major health issue. To accomplish this task, SCAATCN's developed as its:
Mission
The South Carolina African American Tobacco Control Network is a non-profit organization that aims to reduce tobacco use and disparities in chronic disease in South Carolina's African American communities.
